Spring is almost here. Are you ready to change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time? Many of us see the arrival of spring weather as an opportunity to turn over a new leaf. As it gets warmer and more inviting outside, we’re more likely to take a healthy stroll or enjoy the fresh veggies and fruits that are coming into season. With longer daylight hours, it’s the perfect point in the season to begin soaking in a little extra vitamin D and taking good care of ourselves after hibernating all winter long.
As it turns out, March is National Nutrition Month as well. It’s a great chance to consider the many benefits that good nutrition and smart choices about health and wellness can offer us all. So what is National Nutrition month all about? It’s a yearly awareness event and education campaign sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, all aimed toward promoting better health in America. Their website offers 36 ideas for getting involved in National Nutrition Month, from families and schools to the workplace, as well as other resources for people who are curious about learning how to incorporate better nutrition into their lives.
Some practical day-to-day tips to improve your overall wellness include keeping healthy snacks in the house, staying active outdoors (easier to do now that the weather is getting better), and enjoying mealtime together each day. Planning meals in advance also cuts down on the likelihood of indulging in unhealthy foods, while eating to savor food and keeping a sense of curiosity and delight in food keeps a focus on learning and healthy discovery. Making room for special treats in your diet (choosing moderation over deprivation, which can backfire) makes it easier to make healthy adjustments in eating too.
How can nutrition and wellness play out in the workplace and with the gifts we give our colleagues, clients, and business partners? There are lots of healthy options available that make perfect gifts and trade show giveaways, including nuts, trail mix, dark chocolate, and Kind bars just to name a few. On the beverage side of things, tea (particularly green tea) and water are great choices. We have a whole line of nutrition-related promotional products, from cookbooks featuring healthy recipes to pedometers and wellness tracker journals too. We even have adult coloring books, which many people find beneficial for relieving stress and nurturing creativity. And don’t forget that kitchen accessories are some of the most popular and long-lasting promotional products that people hold on to. If you give someone an elegant cutting board or a spatula, for example, chances are that they will not only use it to prepare wonderful meals, but they will also keep it for a long time and think positively of your brand every time they use it.
Wondering if there are other ways you can support nutrition and wellness with a thoughtful gift? Don’t hesitate to reach out to us for advice. If you have a special idea in mind that might benefit from some creative brainstorming, we’d be happy to share some recommendations. Connect with us on Twitter and Facebook or call us at 877-881-6845 and we’ll be glad to advise you on custom branded promotional products that can represent your brand with style and grace.
